The Sahel Cooperation Platform (SCP) is an initiative aimed at strengthening the technical coordination of social, economic, and environmental cooperation actions among Sahel partners, with a regional perspective, in support of Sahelian populations. The Platform’s current members include Italy, Norway, Germany, the African Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the West African Development Bank, the World Bank, Canada, Denmark, Spain, the United States, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United Nations, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, and the European Union.
The objective of this tool is to catalogue development cooperation interventions implemented by the members of the Sahel Cooperation Platform, in order to strengthen the harmonization, coordination, and complementarity of actions in Sahel countries. Each member may include in the database development projects that meet the following criteria:
- Implemented in Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and/or Chad;
- Related to one of the key or cross-cutting sectors of the Sahel Alliance;
- Whose implementation was not completed by January 1, 2017.
Data are collected from open sources and then validated by Platform members to ensure their reliability, as well as the transparency and accountability of development aid.
The database is updated regularly to provide a consolidated view of interventions, facilitate strategic analyses, identify synergies, and support a coordinated dialogue with partners and the countries concerned. During the latest data collection exercise, the following members participated: the African Development Bank, Canada, Denmark, the European Investment Bank, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norwary, Spain, Sweden, The United Kingdom, the West African Development Bank, and the World Bank.
